SEN1 - George - is one of the original street artists of NYC. He was there at the beginning; a foundational member of groups of kids who started the various artistic facets of the hip-hop movement; lyrics, music, dance, art. Often overlooked in favour of the 'big money stories' and heavily branded fashionable reiterations of hip-hop that bought out and colonised the culture, people like George and his crew keep the flame alive within the community - it's true purpose. Making a living from his still graffiti-focused art, George has a real presence in the area he grew up in, using his skills to teach kids the economics and respect of the hip-hop culture. With a price on his head as a teenager, George watched the communities of NYC be taken over by Jewish money, violent gangs, and developers. This was such a great chat with him!
